RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert S. Vihon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 67; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Robert is survived by his wife, Mary, his daughter, Jennifer, and his sister, Laurie Werner (Richard); and
WHEREAS, In 1974, Robert obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with high' honors from the University of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Robert attended law school at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago Kent College of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1977; and
WHEREAS, After working as a lawyer in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, he co-founded Worsek & Vihon, LLP; and
WHEREAS, From 2009 to 2019, he served on the board and executive committee of The Civic Federation of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Robert also enjoyed teaching as an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School; and
WHEREAS, Robert spearheaded the revitalization for the Center for Enriched Living, a center where developmentally disabled children and adults could make new friends, have fun, and acquire new skills for social inclusion and independent living; and
WHEREAS, Robert served as a Board Member for Youth Guidance, an organization that among many initiatives operates Becoming A Man, a program launched in 2001 to help young men navigate difficult circumstances that threaten their future; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert S. Vihon imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this twentieth day of May, 2020, do hereby commemorate Robert S. Vihon for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert S. Vihon.
