RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING JUANITA AGUILAR ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK

WHEREAS, Juanita Aguilar, a longtime public servant with the City of Chicago, is retiring on June 30, 2020, after two decades of dedicated service to the people of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Anna M. Valencia, City Clerk; and

WHEREAS, Born in Weslaco, Texas, Juanita moved with her family to Chicago when she was just five years old. At the age of 16, Juanita moved back to Texas where she worked in the agricultural fields, farms and ranches in the city of Big Wells. In 1986, Juanita returned to Chicago where she met her husband Carlos. Celebrating 27 years together, Juanita and Carlos currently reside in the Brighton Park neighborhood; and just this past year, they purchased a winter home in Big Wells, Texas where they look forward to spending time with their children, grandchildren, family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, Juanita is the proud mother of one daughter, Mary Lou; five sons, Catarino, Anthony, Jose, Luis and Carlos, who will soon be graduating from the Chicago Police Academy; and is the doting grandmother of 13; and

WHEREAS, Juanita began her career with the City of Chicago on June 16, 2000 as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Housing; and after nine years, she joined the Office of the City Clerk as an Editorial Assistant in the City Council Division; and

WHEREAS. Throughout her tenure with the City Council Division, Juanita helped prepare legislative information printed in the Journal of Proceedings of the City Council of the City of Chicago and has been an exemplary employee who has earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, An invaluable and dedicated team member who took on increasingly more challenging responsibilities, Juanita was frequently called upon to work late evenings and weekends to ensure that the office faithfully fulfilled its legal...
