RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Rosalie Clark, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of95;and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Merrilee Redmond, sons William Jr. Redmond, Donald Redmond, Robert Redmond, and daughter-in-laws Mary Redmond, Krista Redmond, Cathy Redmond, and eleven grandchildren, and a multitude of close relatives and very dear friends; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie was born April 16,1925 to John Locatis and Monica Birches on the South Side of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie attended St. Casimir Academy-Maria High School before enrolling in Mount Mary University in Milwaukee; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie met her late husband, Honorable William G. Clark, on a blind date while volunteering for the American Red Cross and later engaged in April 1946 to then wed that Thanksgiving at the Nativity ofthe Blessed Virgin Mary; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie took the role of politician's wife while raising five children, which included talking to reporters, hosting fundraising parties, and accompanying her late husband to all manner of events; and
WHEREAS, She began a professional life that would last through five mayors over nearly two decades, as Rosalie acted as the liaison to the city's consulates, arranged for red carpet arrivals for heads of state, or dinners for overseas dignitaries; and
WHEREAS, Rosalie found time to serve on the boards of Illinois Federation of Democratic Women, Marillac House, Misericordia and Illinois State Museum in her most active years; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Rosalie Clark, imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this Twenty-second day of July, 2020, do hereby commemorate Rosalie for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
