Resolution
WHEREAS, on July 16, 2020 the 25th Ward Alderman's office held a community forum to seek feedback on pressing issues in the community; and
WHEREAS, residents ofthe 25th ward identified the need for community-driven policy, affordable housing, neighborhood investment in schools, and police accountability; and
WHEREAS, under Illinois state law, the City of Chicago City Council may, by ordinance or resolution, initiate an advisory referendum on questions of public policy under 10 ILCS 5/28-6(b) and 65 ILCS 5/3.1-40-60; and
WHEREAS, such questions may be submitted to all voters of a political subdivision by the governing body of that subdivision;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 28-6 ofthe Illinois Election Code (10 ILCS 5/28-6) and Section 3.1-40-60 ofthe Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/3.1-40-60), the following question is certified to the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners for submission to the voters of the 25th Ward within the City of Chicago at the regularly scheduled election occurring after the passage of this resolution, November 3, 2020:
Shall a developer that seeks permission to build 10 units or more of housing in the 25th ward be required to enter into a Community Benefits Agreement?

Shall funds from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) budget be diverted and reinvested in neighborhood schools within the 25th ward?
Yes No
Shall businesses seeking to open bars and taverns in the 25th ward be required to hold a series of three community meetings over the course of six months before any application is submitted to the City of Chicago for permit or zoning approval?
Yes No
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be filed with the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.
