RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING FATHER JOHN NOGA ON HIS RETIREMENT AS PASTOR OF ST. DANIEL THE PROPHET CHURCH
WHEREAS, On July 1, 2020, Father John Noga retired from St. Daniel the Prophet Church after leading the parish for twelve years; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Silvana Tabares, Alderman of the 23rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Earning degrees from Loyola University Chicago, Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, Father Noga worked as an attorney before graduating from University of Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary and entering the priesthood; and
WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Father Noga has been a priest with the Archdiocese of Chicago, spending the past 12 years as Pastor of St. Daniel the Prophet Church in Garfield Ridge on the Southwest Side of the City; and
WHEREAS, Father Noga's time as Pastor of St. Daniel included a remodeling of the church, which he affectionately refers to as "the Jewel of the Garfield Ridge Community"; he takes great pride in leaving the church in a financially stable position with no debt, the facilities in good shape, and a well-staffed parish school that has been nationally recognized as a Blue Ribbon School since 2016, an honor awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to schools demonstrating academic excellence; and
WHEREAS, A pillar of the Southwest Side community, Father Noga was selected by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to serve on the 23rd Ward Candidate Screening Committee, charged with recommending candidates for 23rd Ward Alderman after Alderman Zalewski's retirement in 2018; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 12 years, parishioners have welcomed Father Noga into their own families, reflecting, growing, and relying on his leadership and guidance to better their own lives and follow their calls to serve; and
