At the request of the Commissioner of Transportation, I transmit herewith an ordinance amending the Municipal Code regarding low speed electric mobility devices and scooters.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Section 9-52-070 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting the text underscored, as follows:
9-52-070 Parking.
No person shall park a bicycle upon a street other than upon the roadway against the curb or upon the sidewalk against a rack, parking meter or sign pole to support the bicycle or against a building or at the curb in such manner as to afford the least obstruction to pedestrian traffic.
A bicycle may be parked within a parking space designated for parking of a low-speed electric mobility device pursuant to Section 9-52-130 if: (i) such parking space is designated for the parking of both low-speed electric mobility devices and bicycles; and (ii) such parking space has a rack or device to support a bicycle.



SECTION 2. Section 9-52-130 ofthe Municipal Code of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting the text underscored, and by deleting the text struck through, as follows:
9-52-130 Low-speed electric mobility devices.
(a) No person shall park a low-speed electric mobility device on the public way except:

(1) in any parking space or against any rack designated for such purpose by
the Commissioner. The Commissioner is authorized to designate (directly or through a business
entity that has been issued a low-speed electric mobility device sharing business permit or
license) such parking spaces or racks on the public way if the Commissioner determines that
