We, the undersigned Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, do hereby call a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Chicago, to be convened on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 10:00am. Because an in-person meeting is not practical or prudent due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting shall take place by videoconference. It shall provide for remote participation and remote viewing by members of the public.

The special meeting is for the following purposes and no other purpose whatsoever:
For the immediate consideration of a Resolution to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker requesting an immediate declaration of a State of Emergency in Chicago and deployment of the Illinois National Guard to augment and assist the Chicago Police Department for a four month time frame;
To receive, as the Committee of the Whole, reports from the Honorable Lori Lightfoot, Mayor ofthe City of Chicago, David Brown, Chicago Police Department Superintendent, the Honorable Kim Foxx, Cook County State's Attorney, and the Honorable Timothy Evans, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, reports regarding the collective and unified efforts to address the rioting, looting, destruction, and most importantly, the safety of all Chicagoans; and,

• For the immediate consideration of a Resolution calling on the Committee on the Budget and Government Operations to host monthly public hearings throughout the City of Chicago in advance of the 2021 Budget Hearings in advance of the

Appropriations Ordinance hearings to ascertain the continuous will, priorities, and safety of all Chicagoans.
