RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, In a time where Chicago is experiencing violence, unrest, looting, and record unemployment all across our City; and,

WHEREAS, It is the duty of all elected officials in the City of Chicago to do whatever they can lo protect the wellbeing and safely of all Chicagoans: and,

WHEREAS, All Chicagoans, regardless of their race, gender, national origin, faith, or economic status are deserving of safety and security; and.

WHEREAS, this current pandemic, record unemployment, and growing income inequality have led to waves of civil unrest in Chicago and across the nation; therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we. Members ofthe City Council ofthe Cily of Chicago, on behalf of all Chicagoans call on President Donald J. Trump and the United States Congress to take immediate action to provide relief to all Americans and Chicagoans including:
Meaningful rent and mortgage relief to keep people in their homes: and
Reinstating expanded Unemployment Insurance benefits; and
Cash assistance to all Americans, regardless of documentation status; and
Support to small businesses impacted by this pandemic and recession; and
More resources for communities disproportionately impacted by this pandemic.
