BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO, That in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rules of Order and Procedure of the City Council, City of Chicago, for the 2019-2023 term are hereby amended by inserting the language underscored, as follows:
RULE39E. All public meetings ofthe City Cpunciland-its committees shall be conducted by means of an electronic, video, audio, or telephonic connection ("remote meeting"]. The Clerk and Sergeant at Arms shall determine the means by which a remote meeting will be conducted. A member who desires to attend and participate in a public meeting shall do so by means of a remote meeting. A member who attends a remote meeting is considered present for purposes of Rule 19.
All pertinent information related to Citv Council member participation via remote meetings of the City Council or any of its committees shall be
distributed to all members ofthe City Council not less than forty-eight hours
in advance of the meeting.
For purposes of conducting a remote meeting, the terms "written", "in writing", "document" and "copy" in these rules includes printed or electronic means.
BEIT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO, That to the extent ofany inconsistency between this resolution and any other provision ofthe Rules of Order and Procedure or any other enactment ofthe City Council, this resolution shall prevail. This resolution shall apply whenever remote meetings are authorized and utilized by the City Council and its committees.
