MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND MEMORY OF FRANK AGUILAR

WHEREAS, One year ago, Frank Aguilar, a 32-year-old nurse, was tragically gunned down from a passing vehicle in a case of mistaken identity; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of the anniversary of this tragedy by the Honorable Michael D. Rodriguez, Alderman of the 22nd Ward; and

WHEREAS, Frank Aguilar was born and raised in Chicago, and was an alumni of Saint Xavier University; and

WHEREAS, Like many Chicagoans, Frank overcame economic hardships and Chicago violence to achieve his dream career, graduating with a bachelor's in Science of Nursing in May 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, A dedicated, committed, and kind nurse at the nonprofit developmental home, Misericordia Home, Frank devoted his professional life to helping children, adults, the elderly, and patients with special needs, with dreams of becoming an emergency room trauma nurse; and

WHEREAS, Tragically, Frank was murdered on November 13, 2019 on his way to do laundry at his family's home in Little Village, still in his scrubs after a long shift; and

WHEREAS, A pure soul who loved anime, honey buns, and helping others, Frank uplifted and inspired everyone who knew him, and his smile will continue to brighten up this world, and is remembered for his hard work, perseverance, and endless graciousness; and

WHEREAS, Frank will live on as a reminder and symbol of the innocent lives cut short by senseless gun violence; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixteenth day of November, 2020, do hereby honor the life and memory of Frank Aguilar; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Frank Aguilar as a sign of our honor and respect.
