RESOLUTION HONORING JAMES J. FAUGHT

 

WHEREAS, Associate Dean James Faught has served as and continues to lead by example as a member of Loyola University Chicago School of Law's administration for over forty years. Throughout his tenure, he has prepared graduates to be ethical advocates for justice and the rule of law while fostering friendships that are everlasting.

 

WHEREAS, This body was informed of that honor on the 16th of November, 2020 by Alderman Samantha Nugent.

 

WHEREAS, Dean Faught is the founder and director of Loyola University Chicago School of Law's London Comparative Advocacy Program, which has allowed students to study in London since 1988. This program enables students to compare the English and American legal systems through interactive and educational activities with barristers, judges, and court administrators.

 

WHEREAS, Dean Faught has published articles on the status of women in law schools and on controversial student organizations.

 

WHEREAS, In 2004, Dean Faught was appointed to the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission, which promotes ethics in public service and ensures that the State's business is conducted with transparency, fairness, and integrity. In 2008, he was reappointed to a second term and served as chair in 2009-2010.

 

WHEREAS, Since 1992, Dean Faught has served as a board member on the Lawyers' Assistance Program of Illinois (LAP), a nonprofit organization that assists lawyers, judges, and law students with substance abuse, addiction, and mental health issues. Notably, Dean Faught served as board president from 2009 - 2010.

 

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 23rd of November, 2020, do hereby express our congratulations to Dean Faught on his well-deserved honor; and
