RESOLUTION FOR LILLY T. HAWKINS-CADE

 

 

WHEREAS, this December body was informed of the passing of Lilly T. Hawkins-Cade, by the Honorable Stephanie D. Coleman, Alderman of the 16th Ward;

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cade, a Francisville, LA native, united in holy matrimony with Jerome Cade in 2004. Together they enjoyed Southern University football games, tailgating, NFL games, taking road trips, and with unconditional love raised two sons;

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cade had many talents, which she used to serve her family and local community selflessly as an accomplished clarinet player, photographer, and an outstanding cook. She was by profession a Certified Nursing Assistant and would often transition from a shift at the hospital to baking deserts for the community;

WHEREAS, her husband Jerome Cade preceded Mrs. Cade in death; parents, Alice Hawkins and Robert Cummings, Sr.; brothers, William Harris and Alonzo Hawkins;

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cade leaves a lifetime of precious memories with her devoted sons: Mark Anthony Hawkins of Baton Rouge, LA and Roderick Kean Hawkins of Chicago, IL; five sisters, Thelma Dupas, Alice Gardner, Shirley Lindsey, Gail Dixon, and Sharon Cummings; three brothers, Eddie Hawkins, Joseph Hawkins, and Robert Cummings, Jr; one aunt, Lucille Lathers; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends;

BE IT RESOLVED; that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this December sixteenth day of 2020 do hereby express our sincere sorrow upon the passing of Lilly T Hawkins-Cade, and extend our deepest condolences to the family and all the many lives she has touched; and
