BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:

 

 

Section 1. Pursuant of Section 2-8-40 of the Municipal Code of Chicago, which allows erection of honorary street name designations, the Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation shall take the necessary action for standardization of W. 79th Street, between S. Seeley Avenue and S. Hamilton Avenue as "Honorary Archbishop Lucius Hall."

 

 

Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication.

BISHOP LUCIUS HALL

 

A man, among many, whose religious leadership has gained famed throughout the Chicagoland area, the United States and several foreign countries, such as Canada, Central America and West Africa. The success of his ministry has surpassed many who are veterans In the religious field. Ordained by God, his tremendous leadership ability has predestined him to his major role as a "spiritual leader," Founder and Pastor of First Church Of Love And Faith.

 

An excellent achiever and hard worker, he is sometimes referred to as a hard task master In the secularworld. With an outstanding military record in the United States Armed Forces, he served as a member of the Military Police. Working for many years for the U.S. Government, with the U.S. Treasury Department and laterwlth the Veterans Administration, his advancement from the clerk's position to Section Chief of Veterans Compensation, Pension and Education was just a mere indication of his ability as a leader. What shaped his career as a skilled, talented organizer was his attitude In his work from youth to adult in God's service as a sincere dedicated spirit filled with God.

 

He served under the inspiration of Reverend Clarence H. Cobbs as a religious commentator for 29 years; an ardent Christian worker, he served in numerous capacities from a Sunday School student to President of the Youth and Young Adults Choirs, International Youth Department President, President of the Religious Radio Announcers' Conference of Chicago and vicinity and other countless accomplishments. But, most of all, a friend and brother to many in need.

 

Rev. Hall recorded with the First Church Of Deliverance Youth and Young Adult Choirs. He was featured on the recording doing the "Beatitudes" and "Keep A Goin." He was In charge of the Youth and Young Adult Choirs for many years until he assumed his pastorate.

 

Being a sincere, dedicated and devoted servant of God, he was licensed to preach In 1979. He organized First Church Of Love And Faith In April, 1980. In less than a month, he was ordained a minister of the gospel in May, 1980. His work In God's service began to take on new heights. In June, 1980, Rev. Hall started two nationwide broadcast ministries, whose broadcast history has change over the years, now Including two television programs each week.

 

 

By July, 1980, the church moved to their present location, 2140 West 79th Street. Under his leadership, in less than a year's time, mortgages of the church, dining room and

 

 

center were burned and the church owns all of Its property. Rev." Hall serves as International President of The First Spiritual Churches Of Truth, Inc., which was formed in February, 1981. The organization have churches throughout the United States and West Africa. His ministry has inspired many in all walks of life, by precept and example. He has proved and still is proving that "NO MATTER WHAT MAY BE THE TEST, GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!"

 

He serves as Vice-President of the Broadcast Alliance of Chicago. He Is Executive Director of the First Church Of Love And Faith Head Start Program and an Executive Board Member of the Chicago Gospel Festival Committee. He is coordinator for the Broadcast Ministers Alliance's television ministry on Channel 25 (Cable).

 

In 1998, Pastor Hall instituted a weekly television program, "Broadcast Minister's Alliance Presents." He serves as host for the popular TV program. He also produced and hosted the original "Rock Of Ages Gospel Hour" on' Channel 26 In the -1960's. Recently Rev, Hall was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Chicago Area Gospel Announcers Guild Affiliate of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. During the Chicago Gospel Festival 2001 he was honored as Salutee for 2001.

 

In 1990, Rev. Hall was appointed Chairman of the Human Resources Board for the City Of Chicago by Mayor Richard M. Daley. He continues to serve In that capacity.

 

Rev. Hal! pursued his undergraduate training at the University Of Illinois at Chicago. He trained extensively under the late Rev. Clarence H. Cobbs In Bible Study, Development and "On The Job" training. For 38 years he worked very closely with the Preacher, religiously, and administratively, thus making him the great leader that he is today.

 

. In July, 1993 Rev. Hall received the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from the Gospel Ministry Outreach Theological Institute In Houston, Texas.

 

The ecumenicity of his ministry has made It possible for him to administer the gospel In many different denominations over the country and on foreign soil.
