WHEREAS, the Annual Appropriations Ordinance for the year 2021 ("2021 Appropriation Ordinance") of the City of Chicago ["the City") contains estimates of revenues receivable and grants from agencies of the state and federal governments and public and private agencies; and,
WHEREAS, disputed changes in the Department of Family & Support Services Request for Proposal ("the RFP") negatively impacted thirty-five neighborhoods with the loss of Pre-Kindergarten opportunities on the eve of a global pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, Chicago Public Schools is preparing to return to in-person learning, leaving many parents with Pre-Kindergarten student parents without familiar, known & quality options for their young children to begin their educational journey; and,
WHEREAS, the 2021 Annual Appropriation Ordinance must be a true and evolving reflection of our collective values; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. The amount of $91,360,002 has been previously appropriated to the Chicago Police Department for the purposes of overtime. The 2021 Annual Appropriation Ordinance is hereby amended by striking the amount listed in Department 057 Chicago Police Department, 0020 Overtime from $91,360,002 to the new amount and amending it to $76,360,002.
SECTION 2. The amount of $13,033,000 has been previously appropriated to the Department of Family and Support Services for the purposes of early childhood education programs. The 2021 Annual Appropriation Ordinance is hereby amended by striking the amount listed in Department 050 Department of Family and Support Services, 9253 Early Childhood Education Program from $13,033,000 to the new amount and amending it to $28,033,000.
