ORDINANCE



WHEREAS, The City of Chicago (the "City") is a municipal corporation and home rule unit of government under Article VII, Section 6(a) of the 1970 Constitution of the State of Illinois and, as such, may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs; and

WHEREAS, The Board of Education of the City of Chicago (the "Board") is a body corporate and politic, organized under and existing pursuant to Article 34 ofthe School Code ofthe State of Illinois, 105 ILCS 5/1-1, et seq.; and

WHEREAS, The Public Building Commission of Chicago (the "PBC") is the owner in trust for the Board of certain real property located at 6206 South Racine Avenue improved with the former Woods Community Academy) as legally described on Exhibit A (the "Board of Education Property"); and

WHEREAS, The Board wishes to convey the Board of Education Property to the City; and

WHEREAS, Pursuant to Board Report Number 20-1028-OP2, adopted by the Board on October 28, 2020, the Board authorized the PBC to convey the Board's interest in the Board of Education Property to the City; and

WHEREAS, Pursuant to a resolution adopted on December 1, 2020, the Board of Commissioners ofthe PBC approved the conveyance ofthe Board of Education Property to the City on behalf of the Board; and

WHEREAS, The City Council finds that it is necessary or convenient to acquire the Board of Education Property from the Board; and
