RESOLUTION

 

 

 

WHEREAS, in the eighties Sam Sanchez moved from his hometown of Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to begin what is now an accomplished hospitality career in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez began his career in John Barleycorn in Lincoln Park, which would later become the first restaurant he owned; and

WHEREAS, throughout the years he has continued to open restaurants in Chicago and has begun to expand to California; and

WHEREAS, his success as a restaurateur has led to the foundation of Third Coast Hospitality Group, which includes John Barleycorn, Moe's Cantina, Old Crow Smokehouse, La Luna, Tunnel, and Cava Room; and

WHEREAS, he has attained an extensive background that ranges from concept development to daily operations; and

WHEREAS, his extensive restaurant knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit continues to drive his success in his current businesses; and

WHEREAS, his entrepreneurship has led him to establish EMC Construction, as full-service construction company; and

WHEREAS, he has established SDS Blocker Manufacturing, a company dedicated to making high-quality disposable facemasks; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sanchez charitably holds events benefitting senior citizens, children, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Susan G. Komen Foundation; and

WHEREAS, he takes pride in mentoring Latinx youths; and

WHEREAS, in 2014 Mr. Sanchez was recognized by the Illinois General Assembly for his accomplishments within the business community and his devotion to the betterment of the neighborhoods in which he resides and works; and

WHEREAS, in 2015 he was named Restaurateur of the Year by the Illinois Restaurant Association; and

WHEREAS, on February 25, 2021 he will appointed Chairman of the Illinois Restaurant Association; now, therefore,

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and Members of the Chicago City Council, gathered here this 24th of February 2021, do hereby congratulate Sam Sanchez being named the first Latinx Chair of the Illinois Restaurant Association; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sam Sanchez in honor of his appointment as a token of our esteem and good wishes.
