CHICAGO CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION at
The City Council Meeting on Wednesday February 24, 2021
Whereas, the United States Environmental Protection Agency has recognized that the Southeast Side of Chicago is an environmentally overburdened community in which a large number of historic and current industrial operations have contributed to significant environmental pollution that poses dangers to the health of the community; and
Whereas the residents of the Southeast Side of Chicago should be protected from additional environmental harms;
It is resolved by the members of the Chicago City Council that the Mayor, Commissioner of Public Health and the City Council should not grant a permit for operation of a large recycling facility or any further city permits to Reserve Management Group (RMG) for its proposed recycling operation (known as "Southside Recycling") at 116th Street and the Calumet River.
