WHEREAS, The pandemic caused by the ndvel coronavirus known as COVIDrl9 caused widespread disruptions at all levels of society; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of businesses closed during the pandemic, leaving more thousands of workers unemployed; and
WHEREAS, As a result of the mass vaccination of people and the appreciation that measures as simple as masking and washing our hands have significant impact in reducing the spread of COVID-19, businesses are reopening to fill the pent up demand for their goods and services; and
WHEREAS, There is an immediate heed to bring employers, workers, and labor or trade associations together, and
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago has many resources to help bring employers and workers together, but too often employers and workers are not aware of what those resources are; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the Members of the City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of April 2021, do hereby call on the Committee on Workforce Development to convene a hearing to publicize the resources within the City of Chicago that help bring employers, workers, and labor together for the collective good of Chicago.
