Resolution Honoring Kelly Ann Curry

 

 

Whereas, Kelly Ann Curry is a Chicago resident of the 41st ward for over 40 years.

Whereas, Kelly Ann followed in the footsteps of her father, Captain Michael Sampey, who served 32 years with the Chicago Fire Department.

Whereas, Kelly Ann was hired as a Chicago Fire Department call taker in May of 1991.

Whereas, Kelly Ann was promoted to Fire Dispatcher in 1996.

Whereas, Kelly Ann was one of the last two people to be promoted in the old fire alarm office in City Hall before moving to the new 9-1-1 center on Madison Street.

Whereas, Kelly Ann played a significant role in several large scale, catastrophic incidents including: the gas explosion near Chicago Avenue and Elston Avenue in 1992, the Chicago flood in 1992, the Paxton Hotel fire in 1993, the 135 South LaSalle Street building fire in 2004, the winter blizzard of 2011, and the pandemic and civil unrest of 2020.

BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of City Council, assembled on this twenty-six day of May, 2021 do hereby congratulate Kelly Ann Curry on her retirement and for her service and dedication to the City of Chicago, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Kelly Ann Curry as a token of our appreciation and of our best wishes for her retirement.
