RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Corinne G. Wood has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 66; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Corinne is survived by her husband, Paul, and three adult children, Ashley, Brandon, and Courtney; and
WHEREAS, Corinne was born in Barrington, Illinois and was a resident of Lake Forest; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from the University of Illinois and receiving her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, Corinne was named general counsel to the Illinois Commissioner of Banks and Trusts; and
WHEREAS, Prior to holding public office, Corinne was president of the Lake County Republican Federation fundraising organization, a member ofthe city of Lake Forest Plan Commission and the Lake Forest Senior Housing Commission; and
WHEREAS, In 1997, Corinne was elected to one term in the Illinois House of Representatives where she passed more bills signed into law than any other freshman state representative; and
WHEREAS, In 1998, Corinne made histoiy by becoming Illinois' first female Lieutenant Governor and kept her promise by providing strong leadership in health care, environmental protection, senior advocacy, rural affairs and streamlining state government; and
WHEREAS, Among her achievements, she earned distinction as one of "100 Women Making a Difference" in Illinois by Today's Chicago Woman magazine, and was chosen to chair the Midwestern Region ofthe National Conference of Lieutenant Governors; and
WHEREAS, Corinne remained active in many political, civic, and social endeavors well after leaving office; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Corinne G. Wood imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
