RESOLUTION HONORING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CLEAR-RIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
WHEREAS, The Clear-Ridge Historical Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of preserving the history of the Clearing and Garfield Ridge neighborhoods, and the
surrounding suburbs, Is celebrating its 10th Anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed ofthis milestone by the Honorable Silvana Tabares, Alderman of the 23rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2011, tho Society accomplishes its mission by providing programming at the Clearing Branch Library, hosting talks throughout the City, and providing historical tours of the neighborhoods and local landmarks, which have been featured in the Southwest Chicago Post and Southwest News Herald; and
WHEREAS, The Society has published and reprinted books allowing audiences to discover the history of their neighborhoods, including "A Little known Story of the Land Called Clearing" by Robert Milton Hill, "Gleanings of Archer Road" by Joseph Hamzik, and "A History of Garfield Ridge", published in 2019; and
WHEREAS, In addition to providing programing, the Society also maintains historical files at the Clearing Branch Library located at 6423 W. 63rd Place, allowing those who are interested to view the documents; and
WHEREAS, For the past ten years, the Clear-Ridge Historical Society has educated and enriched, the lives of residents ofthe 23rd Ward and its neighbors, and continues to provide its Invaluable services, which keep the neighborhoods' history alive; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-sixth day of May, 2021, do hereby congratulate the Clear-Ridge Historical Society on its 10th anniversary and express our sincere gratitude for its contribution to chronicling the history of our City; and
