CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO COACH ASHOR SAMANO ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT
WHEREAS, Ashor Samano, revered coach and role model, is retiring from the Chicago Park District after over 33 years of supporting healthy and active Chicago communities; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this significant occasion by the Honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ashor has been an indispensable pillar in the Hollywood, Rosedale, Gompers, Eugene Field, Welles, and Gladstone Park communities during his tenure, and served 23 devoted years at Sauganash Park; and
WHEREAS, During his service in the Park District, Coach Ashor fostered friendships with the community's youth and teens, creating an environment where every student, even the most reserved, felt welcome and eager to participate; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ashor had a positive impact on and was instrumental in shaping the lives of all of the children that grew up in Brynford Park, from the nineties to today; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ashor has introduced countless youth, teens, adults, and seniors to a diverse variety of activities, from weight training to sports like floor hockey, basketball, football, and soccer, and taught them important life skills, guiding his students toward becoming confident and well-rounded citizens; and
WHEREAS, Coach Ashor embraced his role as a coach, instructor, mentor, and friend to all who participated in Park District activities, consistently providing valuable advice and guidance to all members of the community, as well as serving as an attentive, resolute, and non-judgmental listener; and
WHEREAS, The community and Park District will forever be shaped by the over three decades of Coach Ashor's commitment to youth and adult engagement, fitness, and well-being; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of June, 2021, do hereby congratulate Ashor Samano on his retirement from the Chicago Park District and thank him for his years of dedicated service; and
