MEMORIAL RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF SARA SOLEDAD VILLANUEVA

WHEREAS, The members ofthe Chicago City Council are saddened to learn ofthe death of Sara Soledad Villanueva of Chicago, who passed away on December 24, 2020; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Sara's passing by the Honorable Michael D. Rodriguez, Alderman of the 22nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Sara was born on September 23, 1963; following her grandfather, she immigrated from Durango, Mexico to the United States at the age of 13 with her mother and siblings; and
WHEREAS, Sara graduated from William H. Wells High School in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, On July 10, 1991, Sara married Teodoro Villanueva; and
WHEREAS, Sara attended college part time while working full time, volunteering in her community, and raising her children, Yesenia, Alex, Celina, and Derek; and
WHEREAS, In 2003, Sara graduated from Roosevelt University with a Master's Degree; and
WHEREAS, For over 25 years, Sara worked at Instituto del Progreso Latino and Community Health to help her neighbors succeed academically and lead healthy lives; and
WHEREAS, Sara forged strong bonds with all the patients she served; she was described by Community Health as their personal Wonder Woman; and
WHEREAS, In her free time, Sara loved to bike, watch old western movies, and watch the Chicago Bulls; and
WHEREAS, Sara was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-fifth day of June, 2021, do hereby wish to honor the life of Sara Soledad Villanueva, and extend our most heartfelt condolences to Sara's family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and
