RESOLUTION HONORING MOLLY GRACE MORRIS' BRAVERY
WHEREAS, Molly Grace Morris, daughter, big sister, and the "Cheetah Warrior", is putting up a feisty fight against stage four kidney cancer; and
WHEREAS, Molly is the daughter of Jon and Erin Morris, the big sister of Annie, and inspiration to the whole 41st Ward community; and
WHEREAS, A soon-to-be second grader at St. Monica Academy, Molly was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing an extremely aggressive and long chemotherapy treatment plan at Lurie Children's Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Despite the hardships Molly has faced, her personality continues to shine as the sweetest and silliest girl who also happens to be independent and stubborn; Molly wants to be involved in the entire process, helping the nurses do everything from changing her bandages to putting on monitors; and
WHEREAS, Molly's extraordinary strength and courage has inspired her family, friends, and neighbors; orange ribbons line the businesses and churches from Jefferson Park to the nearby suburbs and #Mollystrong can be seen across signs in the City representing the support Molly has from her community; and
WHEREAS, A lover of baking, cooking, and, of course, cheetahs, Molly wants to be a veterinarian or chef when she grows up; and
WHEREAS, Molly recently showed off her skills with clippers when she did an amazing job shaving her mom's head; and
WHEREAS, With a big smile and strong personality, Molly continues through her treatment with her family, friends, and neighbors at her side; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-first day of July, 2021, do hereby extend our sincerest well wishes to Molly Grace Morris; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Molly Grace Morris as a sign of our honor and respect.
