RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A HEARING ON CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS RETURN TO SCHOOL COVID PROTECTIONS, CONTACT TRACING AND
REMOTE LEARNING PLANS

WHEREAS, On August 23, 202,1 Chicago Public Schools began their school year fully in person for all students; and

WHEREAS, Chicago Public Schools made changes to their return to school plan, removing some of the covid-19 mitigation measures; and

WHEREAS, The Delta Variant has been shown to be highly contagious among vaccinated and unvaccinated persons; and

WHEREAS, Parents and students around the city are raising concerns about slow contact tracing and covid exposure notification, involuntary disenrollment of students, and the lack of remote learning options;

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here this fourteenth day of September, 2021, do hereby call upon the Committee on Education and Child Development to hold a hearing to discuss Chicago Public School's covid safety plans, protocols, and remote learning options for students; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we request the Interim CEO, Dr. Jose Torres and current President of the Board, Miguel del Valle be present to testify for the hearing.
