RECOGNITION OF BISHOP DAVID TODD WHITTLEY'S SERVICE TO CHICAGO



WHEREAS,, Bishop David Todd Whittley has dedicated his entire career to serving his community: and

WHEREAS, On behalf of the Chicago City Council and the greater City of Chicago, City Clerk Andrea Valencia would like to extend her personal gratitude to Bishop David Todd Whittley on this important day to recognize his work and for being an outstanding citizen of the City of Chicago; and,

WHEREAS, Bishop Whittley, a native Chicagoan and graduate of Morgan Park High School and Roosevelt University, has had over 30 years ministerial experience and is currently the Senior Pastor at Corinthian Temple Church of God in Christ in the West Garfield Park neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, Throughout his career Bishop Whittley has shown his commitment to making a positive impact on the youth of Chicago while serving as National Director for Scholastic Motivation Ministries which works with youths and young adults throughout Chicago providing them with the tools they need to excel academically, professionally, and spiritually; and,

WHEREAS, In 2016 former Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel appointed Bishop Whittley to the Public Building Commission of Chicago's Board of Commissioners and later was subsequently re-appointed by Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, demonstrating his value to Chicago and its communities; and,

WHEREAS, Recently Bishop Whittley launched the C.A.R.E Project, a community initiative focused on creating inclusive affordable housing, recreation facilities, and homeless shelters; and,

WHEREAS, This work has culminated in the recent ground breaking of C.A.R.E Manor, a new 43 Unit Affordable Housing Project in the West Garfield Park neighborhood; and,

WHEREAS, Bishop David Todd Whittley is supported by his wife Dr. Chandra Whittley, Daughter Sydney and son David Jonathan; therefore,
