RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Father Piotr Gnoinski was born in Dabrowa Tarnowska in Southern Poland on September 15, 1978; and,
WHEREAS, Father Piotr Gnoinski grew up on a small family farm in Podborze in the parish of Olesno in the diocese of Tarnow. His parents, John and Mary had six children, three boys and three girls, which two of them died in childhood. Their strong Catholic faith helped them to survive these terrible losses; and,
WHEREAS, All his life, he was surrendered by the Catholic faith, traditions, and examples of the great Catholic saints, especially St. John Paul II. Father Piotr Gnoinski was baptized on October 22, 1978, on the Inauguration Day of his Pontificate. His life, faith and teachings shaped Father Piotr Gnoinski's own life, to faith and vocation of Priesthood; and,
WHEREAS, In 1998, Father Piotr Gnoinski entered the Seminary in Tarnow to become a diocesan priest. However, a different path was offered to him. In 1999 Francis Cardinal George created the Bishop Abramowicz Seminary, a one year language program for vocations from Poland, who would then continue their priestly formation at the University of St. Mary of the Lake - Mundelein Seminary, and be ordained under the Archdiocese of Chicago. Father Piotr Gnoinski accepted the offer and came to America in the year 2000; and,
WHEREAS, After graduating, Father Piotr Gnoinski was ordained by Francis Cardinal George on May 21, 2005. Since then, he has served as an Associate Pastor at three parishes; six years at St. Francis Borgia in Chicago, three years at St. John Evangelist in Streamwood, and seven years at St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge; and,
WHEREAS, On March 11, 2021, Cardinal Cupich appointed Father Piotr Gnoinski to be the Pastor at St. Ferdinand Parish. Father Piotr Gnoinski is following the footsteps of his former Mundelein Seminary Spiritual Director Father Jason Torba, of whom he is replacing; and,
WHEREAS, The Installation Mass of Father Piotr Gnoinski as Pastor of Saint Ferdinand Parish by the Most Reverent Kevin M. Birmingham, Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago/will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at St. Ferdinand Church, located at 3131 North Mason Avenue; and now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty seventh day of October 2021 A.D., do hereby extend our congratulations and blessings to Father Piotr Gnoinski and the parishioners of Saint Ferdinand Parish; and,
