ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago in certain circumstances makes designated Residential Disabled Parking spaces on the public way available to residents; and,
WHEREAS, Those spaces may from time to time be displaced by necessary work on or under the public right of way, including but not limited to utility work, repaving, etc.; and,
WHEREAS, Residents with mobility challenges displaced from their regular designated parking spaces face serious difficulties that impact their access to basic necessities; and,
WHEREAS, It falls within the authority of the Commissioner of Transportation to oversee and enforce permitting for work on or under the public right of way; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. Section 10-20-150 of the Municipal Code of the City of Chicago is hereby amended by inserting the underscored language and deleting the language struck through, as follows:

_CQ In addition to the other limitations on the issuance of permits described in this chapter, the
Commissioner of Transportation shall not issue anv permit for the opening or occupation of. or the construction or repair of. anv part of the public wav established under section 9-64-050 this code as a Residential Disabled Parking space, until he or she shall have been fully appraised of the applicant's plan to reserve, mark, and make available alternate parking for each Residential Disabled Parking space affected by the work. The Commissioner of Transportation mav require additional drawings, sketches, diagrams, or other documentation demonstrating the alternate parking arrangement and the payment of anv associated fees as needed to enforce this section.
