Title: Recognition of Anne Farodoye-Cole's service to Nigerian community in Chicago

WHEREAS, Anne Farodoye-Cole, an immigrant from Nigeria, is widely known as an ambassador for the Nigerian community in Uptown Chicago.
AND WHEREAS, she came to the United States over forty years ago where she first resided in New York and she went to York College of Dentistry.
AND WHEREAS, Anne later relocated to Chicago in 1983 to be closer to her family, and while in Chicago, she went to Truman College to take nursing courses.
AND WHEREAS, Anne moved to Uptown Chicago in 1989 and started getting involved with former Aid. Helen Shiller where she helped address the many needs facing the Nigerian community.

AND WHEREAS, She and members of her church Christian Fellowship for All Nations do a large amount of outreach every year to people experiencing homelessness. Anne has always been good at identifying people in need and then helping them to connect to needed services.
AND WHEREAS, Anne has worked and cared for adults with fragile health, many of whom live in the Uptown community.
AND WHEREAS, In 2011, Anne reached out to Aid. James Cappleman to continue her advocacy for those experiencing homelessness, those with fragile health conditions, those with complex immigration issues, those in need of affordable housing, and those with who have incurred high medical costs.
AND WHEREAS, In 2017, Anne was awarded Ambassador of Peace and Community by Ambassador Dr. Clyde Rivers from the United Nations.
AND WHEREAS, Anne maintains a strong belief that she must give back to others because God has given so much to her,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor, and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 15th Day of December 2021, do hereby call for honoring Anne Farodoye-Cole as an exemplary Chicagoan and advocate for others; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Anne Farodoye-Cole as a gift of gratitude from the City of Chicago honoring all the work she has done.
