RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING NATALIE SOFIA RAMIREZ ON ACHIEVING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

WHEREAS, On November 27, 2021, Natalie Sofia Ramirez earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America's highest rank; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this prestigious achievement by the Honorable Michael D. Rodriguez, Alderman of the 22nd Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, Natalie started her scouting journey in kindergarten at St. Leonard in Girl Scout Troop 41009 and throughout those years she accompanied her older brother and her father on many of Troop 32's outing as a guest; at age 14, Natalie joined BSA Venture Crew 32, a co-ed group emphasizing adventure, leadership, and personal growth; and

WHEREAS, In 2019, upon learning girls could join the Boy Scouts of America, Natalie jumped at the opportunity to integrate the skills and experiences she acquired in Venture Crew 32, and be recognized for her efforts; and

WHEREAS, During her scouting journey, Natalie has been Troop 32G's Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, helping to teach the younger scouts the skills she learned as a young scout herself; in 2019 she was nominated to enter into the Scouting National Honor Society - the Order of the Arrow - and has participated in several scouting programs, including National Youth Leadership Training and the National Catholic Committee; and

WHEREAS, Out of 100 Scouts, 70 will remain with scouting for beyond one year, 17 will become adult Scout leaders, and only four will reach the rank of Eagle; Natalie is now one of the small group to achieve this rank; and

WHEREAS, Eagle Scouts exemplify the virtues of service, leadership, and duty to God, using their training and influence to better their communities and the world; to achieve this rank, a Scout must have at least 21 merit badges, demonstrate the Scout Spirit, leadership, and service, and complete an Eagle Scout Service Project where the Scout further demonstrated the virtues of service and leadership; and

WHEREAS, Upon becoming an Eagle Scout, Natalie joined her brother Andres and two million other scouts who have earned the prestigious ranking; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty sixth day of January, 2022, do hereby congratulate Natalie Sofia Ramirez on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors; and
