RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, the City of Chicago has seen 554,548 cases of COVID-19 since the start ofthe pandemic with 7,459 individuals deaths related to the virus; and,

WHEREAS, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted emergency approval for Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines in December 2020, followed by approval for Johnson and Johnson in February 2021; and,

WHEREAS, there have been 4,623,730 doses of various vaccines administered in the City of Chicago, with 76.5% ofthe population having received at least one dose and 68.7% having received a complete series of doses; and,

WHEREAS, all aspects of the public and private sector have learned how to exist with voluntarily and mandatory health protocols for guests, patrons and employees; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago instituted an employee portal compelling municipal employees to declare their vaccination status or risk discipline up to and including termination for failing to comply; and, I

WHEREAS, antibodies produced by the human body either by COVID-19 vaccination or infection can guard the body from infection according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention; and,

WHEREAS, serology testing can be performed to detect the presence of COVID-19 antibodies to determine their presence and possible protection from the viruses associated with COVID-19; now therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO, that the Committee on Health and Human Relations hold hearings with the Department of Public Health and a broad range of health experts including but not limited to immunology, cytokines, and natural immunity research for the purposes of policy formation that is inclusive of natural ity in current and future mitigation policies and protocols.
