RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING THE LODGE TAVERN ON ITS 65TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, The Lodge Tavern, a generational favorite for locals and tourists alike, is celebrating its 65th anniversary in business; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Brian Hopkins, Alderman of the 2nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Having opened in 1957, first as Suzy's, and then The Allegro, and finally The Lodge Tavern, it is the oldest and one of the mostfamous neighborhood taverns of the historic Rush and Division Street Nightlife District in the City's Gold Coast neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, The Lodge Tavern remains a family business; it was first purchased by F. Owen McKeaney and is currently operated Lyn Z. McKeaney and Lauren and Shanan McKeaney; and
WHEREAS, Staff at The Lodge continue to be some of the best in the business and have become as much a part ofthe experience as the bar itself; and
WHEREAS, The Lodge, as it is commonly known, has been frequented by celebrities and famous athletes alike, including Mickey Mantle, Theo Epstein, and Bill Murray; and
WHEREAS, For decades, the notable wood-log f acade, olde-English-style lettering on its exterior, and broken peanut shells on the floor has served as a reminder to all patrons that they are home at The Lodge; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-third day of February, 2022, do hereby congratulate The Lodge Tavern and the McKeaney family on 65 years of success and wish them many many more; and
