RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, STAN MOORE, attended Robert Fulton School and Southwest High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota;

WHEREAS, Stan attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History;

WHEREAS, Stan was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, Phi Sigma lota, and Phi Beta Kappa Fraternities;

WHEREAS, Stan attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and was a member of its Boy Scout Troop, Sea Scout Ship, and a Counselor at Camp Ajawah;

 

WHEREAS, Stan also attended Yale University, a John Hay Fellow; the Universite' de Montepllier in Montpellier, France; Moscow State University, Moscow, USSR; Fulbright Summer Program - travel and study in India; Summer seminars in the Humanities and Russian; and Sherpa-led fraternal trek through Nepal;

 

WHEREAS, Stan attended the Army Language School in Monterey, California, Russian

 

WHEREAS, Stan was a member of the 328th Communications Reconaissance Company, Bad Aibling, Bavaria

 

WHEREAS, Stan participated in a bicycle trip after Korean War discharge, Munich to Downham Market, Norfolk, England via Switzerland and France

 

WHEREAS, Stan attended the University of Minnesota, MA. Russian Area Studies

 

WHEREAS, Stan attended Grace United Protestant Church, Park Forest, IL and Fourth Presbyterian Church, Chicago

 

WHEREAS, Stan took another Bicycle trip with his son Doug to London and back via France, Switzerland, Italy, and Corsica

 

WHEREAS, Stan was a teacher at Spring Valley High School, in Spring Valley, Minnesota, where he taught English and History

WHEREAS, Stan was a teacher at Rich Township High School, Park Forest, Illinois, English, where he taught History, Russian and French

WHEREAS, Stan taught at Special School #9, Moscow, USSR; School #238, Leningrad, USSR, English, for a teachers exchange program

WHEREAS, Stan was a teacher at the American School of Aberdeen, Aberdeen Scotland, where he taught English and History

WHEREAS, Stan was a teacher at Southwest China Teachers University, Chongqing, People's Republic of China

 

 

WHEREAS, Stan taught at Prairie State College

 

WHEREAS, Stan taught at Technical University of Liberec, Czech Republic, when he was with the Peace Corps

 

WHEREAS, Stan taught at Arabaev University, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; International University of Kyrgyzstan;

WHEREAS, Stan taught at Ablai Khan University, Almaty Kazakhstan on Fulbright fellowships

WHEREAS, Stan has self-published booklets entitled: "Silk Sermons," "Grandpa's Bedtime Stories," and "Forty-Odd Verses;"

 

 

NOW THEREFORE:

 

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 25th day of May, 2022, do hereby honor the accomplishments of STAN MOORE, and extend our sincere congratulations for his service to the community, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to STAN MOORE as a sign of our good wishes.
