May 23, 2022

Honorable Lori Lightfoot Mayor, City of Chicago 121 N LaSalle Street Chicago Illinois 60609

Mayor Lightfoot,

Service has been the cornerstone of my family's legacy. My mother and father both spent their entire careers serving this great city in one capacity or another. My father often told us that serving your community is the highest calling you can have besides being a man or woman of the cloth. So, that value was instilled in me at an early age. And, as long as 1 can remember, my life's dream has been to serve my community as the Alderman ofthe 24lh Ward.

Over the course of my career, I have served at Chicago Public Schools, the Public Building Commission. After School Matters, and the Chicago Park District. However, the greatest honor of my life, (besides being a husband and a father) has been the last seven years serving the residents ofthe 24,h Ward as their Alderman. Working alongside the community, the 24lh Ward, once dubbed the permanent underclass, is poised for a major renaissance. My wish has been to serve and give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family. Hopefully, 1 made it a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family during my tenure as Alderman.

The 24th Ward has seen many wins in the last seven years, but we have also had our share of losses. The ongoing challenges with public safety, the pace at which resources reach our community, and the pandemic has all taken its toll. I have personally worked extremely hard to address these issues, and at times at the detriment of my own family. And after much thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to resign from my elected role of Alderman, effective June 3, 2022.

I am thankful for the 24th Ward for allowing me to serve as their Alderman, my incredible team for their hard work and unwavering support, and my fellow council members and colleagues. Thank you, Mayor, for your leadership and support over these past 3 years. And most of all 1 am thankful for my family for their love, supporf, and patience while allowing me to live out my dream.
