RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Edwin Dupre has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 90 to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Nicole T. Lee, Alderwoman of the 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 73 years, he was born in Evanston, IL, son of Donald and Clara (Guirsch) Dupre. He attended St. George H.S. in Evanston and later graduated from La Salle Institute in Glencoe. MO. He entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in 1949, pronounced his first vows the next year and his final vows in 1955. He earned a B.A. degree from St. Mary's College in Winona, MN, in 1953. During his years as an educator, he taught at St. Mel H.S. and St. Patrick H.S. in Chicago and served as treasurer for the Christian Brothers in Oak Park and Romeoville and at St. Joseph H.S. in Westchester. From 1979 to 1986 he was a counselor at Mercy Boys Home in Chicago, and he was Development Director at Christian Brothers Center in Romeoville from 1986 to 1998. Survivors include his brother-in-law, Vince O'Reilly; his nephew, Fr. Kevin O'Reilly; and his cousin, Brother Thomas Dupre, FSC, among others, and the De La Salle Christian Brothers; and
WHEREAS. His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Edwin to his family members, friends and all who knew him. and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED. That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twentieth of July 2022, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Edwin Dupre and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edwin Dupre.
