WHEREAS, five generations of Ms. Lula Anderson a Detroit family celebrated Mother's Day 2022 for the first time in 2 years, interrupted by the worldwide COV1D pandemic; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed by Honorable Carrie M. Austin, Alderman of the 34th Ward; and
WHEREAS, the family made acquaintance with Alderman Austin through her membership at Logos Baptist Church, where Pastor Donald Parsons is Senior Pastor and a relative. The family moved to Detroit from Mississippi in 1965; and
WHEREAS, the generation joining in the celebratory reunion range from ages 86 to 18 months old. Were able to attend a Mother's Day Sunday Service, will forever be a part of the family's history; and
WHEREAS, the matriarch Lula Anderson is now a great-great grandmother to the youngest Lovelyn Grace. The family was reared in church and Yarisha Parsons expressed jubilation at growing up and witnessing her grandmother clapping hands and singing at services, and how they shared unwavering devotion to God; and
WHEREAS, Loretta Mormon highlights how the family has maintained close bonds through the years, while Sonya Marshall credited their closeness with being loved by a mother, grandmother and experiencing the joys of motherhood herself.
WHEREAS, delightful occasion embodies an immense story full with family life and love, bonds and sense of duty spanning five generations, it is a lesson is value. May its richness warmly regard for us to inspire and motivate the importance of family support to overcome any obstacle, foster unyielding strength, and empower success through devotion; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty day of July, 2022, do hereby extend our most heartfelt regards to the family, loved ones and friends of Lula Anderson's and family; and
