RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE JOINT COMMITTEE ON HEALTH AND HUMAN RELATIONS AND COMMITTEE ON ECONOMIC. CAPITAL AND TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT EXTEND AN INVITATION TO TELL HEALTH FOUNDERS TO TESTIFY
WHEREAS getting health care information is among the leading reasons people go online, and there is a plethora of platforms that cater to their interests. However, a lot of information is bad. especially il it comes from unmoderated platforms; and

WHEREAS the New York Times recently reported about how social media is rife with health care myths, so much so there's a subculture now of medical professionals and academics who have united to debunk these false claims by relying on facts and truth, spoken without fear, favor or moral indignation; and

WHEREAS Tell Health is a Chicago social media platform enterprise startup founded by Nikola Nestorov and Dr. Alan Gaffney dedicated to recruiting expert health care professionals who heretofore may have been reluctant to use social media because of the abuse that can come with it. They plan to provide a safer, more professional platform that will increase confidence in the circulation of only trustworthy information as well as safeguard patient privacy; and

WHEREAS an independent board of medical professionals from multiple disciplines will monitor all posts, whatever the source, and will have the authority to ban anyone who violates the policies and clear intent of the Tell Health platform. Participation is free for both medical staff and information seekers. Those on the medical side can join only after their credentials are verified, while the public has to register with a name and mobile phone number. A medical professional can post and the public can respond if comments have been enabled by the poster; and

WHEREAS it is imperative that this body and its constituency be advised and informed of Chicago-based enterprises such as Tell Health who strive to bring a more welcoming place open to hearing ideas and offering ...
