RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Margaret ("Marge") H. Harmon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Marge is survived by her son, Don and his wife, Teresa, her daughters, Julia and her husband, Jeff Bell, Elizabeth and her husband, Christopher Miller, as well as nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Born on December 22,1930, in Oak Park, Illinois, Marge was the younger pf two daughters of James and Mary (nee Daly) Hanley; and
WHEREAS, Marge and her sister Mary graduated from Ascension School before attending and graduating from Immaculata High School on Lake Shore Drive at Irving Park Road; and
WHEREAS, Marge earned a Bachelor's Degree from Mundelein College, now part of Loyola University Chicago; and
WHEREAS, It was through her best friend at Immaculata that Marge eventually met Don Harmon, whom she married in January 1964; and
WHEREAS, Marge worked as a church secretary and later a bookkeeper for a series of small businesses in and around Oak Park; and
WHEREAS, Every January through April for roughly 20 years, Marge volunteered preparing income taxes for seniors through a program ofthe Oak Park Township; and
WHEREAS, Besides being a wonderful mother, she was a loyal "Bookie" (the nickname for her book club friends who rarely read books but never failed to meet), a favorite aunt to her 25 nieces and nephews, and a one-of-a-kind "Gram" to her eight grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Marge imparts a legacy of generosity, compassion, devotion to family and unwavering faith in God; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this Eighteenth day of January, 2023, do hereby commemorate Marge for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
