RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, Honorable James ("Hank") F. Henry has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 71; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Hank was a loving father of Nicholas (Brittany), beloved former husband of Judith Henry, dearest brother-in-law of Joyce (the late Kevin) May and Mary Ann (Robert) Reynolds, and fond uncle of Julie (Michael) Schmitz and Michael (Laura) Reynolds; and

 

WHEREAS, He earned a B.A. from St. Norbert College, then he completed a J.D. at DePaul University College of Law; and

 

WHEREAS, Hank began his legal career serving as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Civil Division of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; and

 

WHEREAS, He worked as a partner at Gould & Ratner, where he specialized in real estate, tax, zoning, and environmental matters; and

 

WHEREAS, Hank was elected to the bench in 1988 as a Judge for Cook County Chancery Division in Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Over the course of his judicial career, he held assignments in the Chancery Division, the Law Division, and the County Division as well as the First Municipal District and the Fifth Municipal District; and

 

WHEREAS, He retired from the bench in 2007, then joined Resolute Systems as a private mediator and arbitrator; and

 

WHEREAS, Hank cherished spending time with his family, loved the White Sox and Blackhawks, and frequently attended games with family, friends and colleagues; and

 

WHEREAS, He greatly enjoyed spending time outside on the golf course or at the driving.range working on his game; and

 

WHEREAS, His true passion was making people happy, always quick to tell a funny story and offering help whenever he could; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Hank imparts a legacy of generosity, compassion, devotion to family and unwavering faith in God; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this First day of February, 2023, do hereby commemorate Hank for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable James F. Henry.
