RESOLUTION HONORING BISHOP MARK A. MOORE SR. ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS PASTOR OF INDIANA AVENUE PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF GOD
WHEREAS, As the Alderman of the 3rd Ward where the Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God calls home, Alderman Pat Dowell would like to formally welcome Bishop Mark A. Moore Sr. as the church's new Pastor, and extend her greetings to First Lady Dr. Shirley Ann Moore; and
WHEREAS, The Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God has a deep history in the 3rd Ward and the Bronzeville Community, starting when Elder Charles Haywood Ellis began ministry at 3455 South Prairie Avenue, and continuing at its current site at 3520- 22 South Indiana Avenue, where the congregation has gathered as an official member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. for 80 years; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Moore will continue this fine tradition as a 4th generation Pentecostal Preacher and Pastor with a degree from Harvard College, and over 35 years of faithful service in ministry; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Moore has served the faith as a national evangelist, Pastor of Zion Temple Church in Havre De Grace, Maryland, was the founding Pastor of Faith Covenant Church of Jesus Christ in Decatur, Georgia, and was consecrated to the Office of Bishop in 2010 by Bishop James D. Nelson, Sr. of The World Assemblies of Restoration in Baltimore, Maryland; and
WHEREAS, On Thursday, September 1, 2022, Bishop Moore was elected the 4th Pastor in Succession of Indiana Avenue Pentecostal Church of God, one of Chicago's most historic Pentecostal Churches; and
WHEREAS, Bishop Moore shares his life and love with his wife of 36 years First Lady Shirley Ann Moore, who are the proud parents of 3 gifted young adults - Pastor Mark, Jr. a graduate of Morehouse College and founder of the Young Leaders Conference, George David a certified personal trainer and motivational speaker, and Sharon Alise who is in graduate school at Howard University; now, therefore,
