CONGRATULATIONS TO ANGELICA GUERRERO ON HER RETIREMENT FROM
CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS
WHEREAS, Angelica "Angie" Guerrero is retiring from Chicago Public Schools following 29 years of dedicated service at the end of the 2022/2023 school year; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Michael D. Rodriguez, Alderman of the 22nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Angie was born in Salvatierra, Guanajuato Mexico, immigrating to Chicago at a young age and growing up in Little Village; Angie would go on to marry Ray Guerrero and raise three sons: Nicholas, David, and Daniel; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Angie, began her illustrious career with the Chicago Public Schools at Little Village Academy, dedicating her career to serving in the community in which she grew up; and
WHEREAS, Angie taught at Little Village Academy for 11 years as a kindergarten, first grade, and third grade general and bilingual teacher; she later became a math specialist under the CPS Chicago math and science initiative, supporting pre-K to 8th grade teachers implementing the new math curriculum; and
WHEREAS, After four years as a math specialist, Angie transitioned to Assistant Principal at Gary Elementary where she has been for the last 16 years; and
WHEREAS, The embodiment of the motto of the Chicago Public Schools - "for every child, in every neighborhood", Angie devoted 27 years of her life to serving her community, and, in doing so, inspired generations of students, including her son Nicholas, who followed in her example and became a principle at Ravenswood Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of the City of Chicago want to recognize the great debt owed to our public servants, and extend our sincerest gratitude to the long and prolific career of Angie Guerrero; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this fifteenth day of March, 2023, do hereby express our gratitude for 29 years of service...
