
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) will start their Global Conference & Exhibition, on April 17, 2023; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by Alderman Thomas Tunney of the 44th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, founded in 1961 as the Hospital Management Society, with U.S. headquarters in Chicago, has an organizational vision to realize the full health potential of every human, everywhere; and
WHEREAS, The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society has served the global health community for more than 60 years, with operations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific; and
WHEREAS, The Heathcare Information and Management System Society, a global advisor, leader, and mission-based society which reforms the global health ecosystem through information and technology; and
WHEREAS, As a non-profit, HIMSS provides expertise in health innovation, public policy, workforce development, and research to healthcare providers, payers, governments, startups, and other health service organizations across the global health ecosystem; and
WHEREAS, The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society includes more than 120,000 individuals, 480 provider organization, 470 non-profit partners and 650 health organizations; and
WHEREAS, The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's many resources, Digital Health Indicator, maturity models, and professional development capabilities connect the global health ecosystem to become more resilient to public health threats like COVID-19, the opioid crisis, natural disasters, and chronic diseases that greatly affect our most vulnerable communities; and
WHEREAS, The global conference in Chicago after eight years, brings thousands of members across the healthcare industry together to spotlight the local to global innovations, public policy and digital health decision-making tools essential to empowering communities to achieve health and wellness goals; and
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this March 15, 2023, do hereby honor the service and accomplishments of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations at their global conference; and
