RESOLUTION REMEMBERING LEONARD KRAUS
WHEREAS, Leonard "Lenny" Kraus, beloved family man and community member, passed away on April 13, 2023 at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of Leonard's passing by the Honorable Emma Mitts, Alderman of the 37th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lenny loved spending time with his family, golfing, and his cigars; and
WHEREAS, Leonard had a special place in his heart for traveling with his late wife of 64 years Dianne Kraus (nee Serota); and
WHEREAS, Leonard Business Buyer's Flea Market is located in and has made donations to the 37th Ward community for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Known for interacting with everyone at the Flea Market in his cowboy hat with a cigar, and traveling from booth to booth, Leonard's presence will be sorely missed; and
WHEREAS, Leonard leaves behind a legacy of positivity and unending hard work; he leaves to cherish this legacy children Debbie (Peter) Meyers, Lynn (Greg) Morand, Jan (Richard) Jacobs, and Sharon (Giles) Chick; grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pa", Danny and Steven Meyers, Brian (Crysta) and Lisa Morand, Zachary and Allyson Jacobs, and Chloe Chick; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Alexandra, and Aubree; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here the twenty-fourth day of May 2023, do hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Leonard Kraus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Leonard Kraus as a sign of our honor and respect.
