City Council Meeting Agreed Calendar May 24, 2023

whereas, The 43rd Annual Spiritual Assembly of the Chicago Association of Holy Name Societies (CAHNS) Mass is scheduled to take place at Immaculate Conception-Five Holy Martyrs Parish in the Brighton Park community; and,
whereas, The Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago have been informed of the occasion by the Honorable Raymond Lopez, Alderman of the 15th Ward and member of the Immaculate Conception-Five Holy Martyrs Parish Holy Name of Jesus Society; and,
whereas, The Spiritual Assembly CAHNS Mass will take place during the Roman Catholic celebration of Corpus Christi, the commemoration of the Last Supper between Jesus and his twelve Apostles before the crucifixion; and,
whereas, The Holy Name of Jesus Society is, according to David McCowin, a confraternity of Catholic laity, heavily promoted by Dominican Order of Preachers during the 1960s, focused on the lived faith of the Roman Catholic Church in both their adherence to the sacraments as well as actionable values; and,
whereas, The Members of the Society span across parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago stand as role models of faith, piety and morality within their respective parishes and communities for men and women to aspire to emulate; now, therefore,
be it resolved by the city council of the city of chicago, that we, the Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, do hereby congratulate the Chicago Association of Holy Name Societies on the 43rd Annual Spiritual Assembly and Mass; and,
be it further resolved by the city council of the city of chicago, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to all participating Holy Name of Jesus Society organizations.
