RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller was a retired member of the Chicago Police Department and the loving husband of Joann M., nee Cannella; and
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller was the much-adored father of Michelle McMahon, Kathleen Fleming and Jennifer and the grandfather of five to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller was the dear and devoted brother of Jean Eiseman; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Robert C. Schaller enjoyed a highly decorated career with the Chicago Police Department and received its highest honor for valor; and
WHEREAS, In 1978 Robert C. Schaller's heroic actions captured an arsonist who was caught in the act of attempting to burn an apartment building in the 6000-block of North Winthrop Avenue and despite being badly burned helped to evacuate residents from the structure; and
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller was featured on the television show Top Cops and was named by Chicago magazine as "Officer of the Year"; and
WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Chicago Police Department, Robert C. Schaller moved to Frankfort and established Illinois Security Services, which provided consulting and security services for more than 250 companies; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert C. Schaller serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert C. Schaller to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Robert C. Schaller will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Robert C. Schaller imparts a legacy of faithfulness, ...
