WHEREAS, Jerry Harper, an outstanding public servant and member of his community, retires as a Police Officer of the Chicago Police Department after thirty years of dedicated service to the people of this city; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Harper has received two Department Commendations, eight Honorable Mentions, and two Complimentary Letters; and

WHEREAS, The police have the very essential job of ensuring the safety and order of their community. These sworn officers have an important role in protecting lives and property, maintaining order and enforcing all laws accurately; and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman of the 18^th Ward, has apprised this august body of Jerry Harper's significant milestone; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this Eighth day of December, 2010 A.D., do hereby salute Jerry Harper for his many years of dedicated service to the safety of this city and extend our very best wishes for health, happiness, and success in any future endeavor.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Jerry Harper.
