RESOLUTION HONORING JOSEPH "JOSH" M. NEMETH IV
WHEREAS, on February 9, 2011, the students and staff of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School ("Cristo Rey") will join the family and friends of the late Joseph "Josh" M. Nemeth TV in honoring Mr. Nemeth by dedicating a portion of West 22nd Place as "The Honorary Josh Nemeth Plaza"; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nemeth was an outstanding teacher of both chemistry and life for the students of Cristo Rey. Between 2002 and 2010, Mr. Nemeth successfully dedicated his life to the vision of Cristo Rey. advancing each student's "human and intellectual capacities" while supporting their spiritual growth. Mr. Nemeth set high standards for his students because he knew that they were capable of achieving them; and
WHEREAS, Josh Nemeth served as an inspiration for his students at Cristo Rey, his family, and his friends. While continuing to teach his students, Mr. Nemeth attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, on a part-time basis, between 2005 and 2009. In May 2009, Mr. Nemeth received his Juris Doctor degree and, in May 2010, he became a sworn attorney for the Anny Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps: and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nemeth left Cristo Rey with this memorable message: "The human Soul has no mass and no volume. You cannot measure it and you cannot pour it into a beaker. The Periodic Table tells you nothing about its isotopes. There are no numbers here - no conversions or calculations. Still, your Soul is more real than anything you could see, taste, feel or hear."
WHEREAS, The Honorable Daniel S. Solis, Alderman of the 25th Ward, has informed this august body of the honor being bestowed on this remarkable educator and human being; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here on the 9th Day of February, 2011 AD, do hereby commend the students and staff of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and family and friends of Josh Nemeth for their part in procuring this honor for such...
