TRIBUTE TO THE LIFE OF WILLIAM KING
WHEREAS, Almighty God, in His Infinite Wisdom, has seen fit to grant William King, upstanding citizen and benefactor to his community, eternal rest on February 5, 2011, at the age of sixty; and
WHEREAS, William King, an employee from Chicago's Streets and Sanitation Department, suffered a fatal heart attack while servicing its citizens. William King, known as Billy by many, was a dedicated worker for over 10 years and drove a garbage truck. He stopped the truck in the vicinity of the 3600 block of West Devon Avenue, had gotten out of the truck to help clear snow away from the carts in order for the garbage to be collected when he suffered the heart attack. Billy was a considerate individual who would take the time to help his fellowman; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of William King serve as an example to all. Most of Billy King's resources were expended on the care of his brother Joey who has been mentally challenged from birth. He paid for a private nursing home and became his legal guardian; and
WHEREAS, Mr. William King's love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared him to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, William King was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and co-workers; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard F. Mell, Alderman of the 33rd Ward has informed this august body of the passing of his friend, William King; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this ninth day of February, 2011 A.D., do hereby express our deepest sympathy to the immediate family, the extended family and the many, many friends of William '•Billy" King and extend our sincerest condolence to those whose lives he touched.
