^QhcfBttS ' °n tne ni9nt of September 23, 2010, a woman living on West Dickens Avenue in Lincoln Park awoke to the terrifying realization that two men were burglarizing her apartment; and
WHEREAS, One ofthe men entered her bedroom, threatened her and began to sexually assault her, telling her he would kill her unless she did what he told her. Daring not to scream because of his threats, she was forced to endure his assault. The other man fled the apartment with some of her property, dropping items as he ran; and
WHEREAS, At about 11:30 p.m., a neighbor noticed some property strewn about the apartment hallway, and reported it to 9-1 -1. 18th District Chicago Police Officers Cynthia M. Miura (Star #7181), and Patrick R. Strelczyk (Star #13214) responded to the call moments later, and discovered a purse lying on the back stairs, along with a variety of other items; and
WHEREAS, The officers did not see any damage to windows or doors, but saw an open window on the first floor and, sensing that something was not right, proceeded to investigate to ensure the occupants were not in distress; and
WHEREAS, The officers called through the window, but heard no response. They continued their inquiry, announcing their office as they entered the apartment, and asking if everyone was okay. Upon hearing the officers, the desperate victim screamed for help from the bedro...
