Title: Donation of City vehicle(s) to Community Male Empowerment Project, and Safer Foundation

SUBSTITUTE ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, From time to time vehicles and equipment used by the City of Chicago become outdated or obsolete and are replaced; and
WHEREAS, Such vehicles and equipment may nonetheless have useful service left in them, and could be of great use and value to another entity; and
WHEREAS, The City's Department of Fleet Management from time to time has in its possession vehicles and equipment that, while no longer of use to the City, could be of substantial use elsewhere; and
WHEREAS, Two local organizations, the Community Male Empowerment Project and the Safer Foundation, are in need of humanitarian aid; now, therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHICAGO:
SECTION 1. The Commissioner of Fleet Management is hereby authorized to donate: (1) 2 obsolete dump trucks, 1 obsolete tow truck, and 3 obsolete pickup trucks, no longer useful to the City of Chicago, as such vehicles may become available, to the Community Male Empowerment Project or its designee; and (2) 2 obsolete pickup trucks, 1 obsolete stake body truck, and 1 obsolete power washer/sprayer, no longer useful to the City of Chicago, as such items may become available, to the Safer Foundation or its designee. All the donated items shall be provided free and clear of any liens or encumbrances. The City shall convey said items in "as is" condition without any warranties either expressed or implied and expressly excludes any warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular
 
purpose.
SECTION 2. The Commissioner of Fleet Management is hereby authorized to enter into and execute such other documents as may be necessary and proper to implement this donation.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication.
